The opening house designs for the launch of BQFW are built around the star, a shape that knits together patterns in all corners of the world, in mosaics, on tiles, celestial charts, stitched and pieced quilts. All our fabrics are screen printed using cut paper stencils, and some may have additional details and interventions.

The colours we use and where we place them create many variations in the character of this pattern. Here it is looking very like Victorian tiles. The terracotta panels are intersected every 85 - 90cm with a pale blue background 42cm deep. |

This design has a strong grid structure. There was no fixed layout, and its character changed with each print stage, from very cool in blue and grey to warmer and softer with added orange. The pattern is irregular, with no formal repeat, because of the random colour.

This pattern has a jaunty lack of proper symmetry and warm, earthy colours. The star is a bold feature, each one being printed on its own, building up the design piece by piece. Compare with the chair on the homepage which is a cooler version printed on canvas.
